Tannaumirk asked me if Jesus was the only white man that knew how to wake up the dead. He said many Eskimo used to know how and do it frequently. Many still know how, but dare not practice, by and by nobody will know because none dare to learn now for fear of not going to heaven after death. When I told him that I doubted if Jesus really did raise people from dead, T. said it was reasonable white men should doubt it if they had no one who could do it, but the Eskimo understood how it was done by others and therefore believed Jesus could do it also.
